Mount Kilimanjaro Rongai route is the only route that locates Kilimanjaro from the north, nearby the Kenyan border. It is a less populated route compared to others. Rongai has a more gradual slope than the Kilimanjaro’s other routes. It has been considered as an alternative for the Marangu route for those preferring remoteness.
Although the scenery is not as varied as the western routes, Rongai makes up for this by passing through true wilderness areas for nearly the entire trail. It is Mount Kilimanjaro up Rongai Route down Marangu Route in 7 Days 6 Nights.as per itinerary below.

Itinerary
Arrival in Arusha town/Moshi town for overnight BB.
Drive 4 hours to the Rongai Gate. Walk to Simba Camp at 2650 m, 2½-3 hrs. The walk is initially through plantations then rain forest and finally bush country.
A gentle day through bush then heathers that allows you to walk to 2nd Cave at 3450 m, 3 hrs for a short rest and have lunch aftrerwards continu challenging gentle slopes rising traverse through moorland over several ridges to Kikelea Caeves, 3600 m for overnight having spent another 3 hrs so total makes 6 hrs trek.
Moorland then screes to Mawenzi Tarn Hut, 4330 m, 3 hrs
Easy angled screes slopes lead across the Saddle to Kibo Hut, 4700 m, 4-5 hrs.
Very early start for the summit on steep scree up to Gillman’s Point (5681 m) which is on the crater rim. Continue around the rim (which will take about two hours if you are fit) to Uhuru Peak (5895 m) the highest point in Africa. The views of the sunrise over Mawensi to the East is stunning. Descend to Kibo Hut for tea and biscuits or soup and then down to the thicker air and relative warmth of Horombo huts 3720m.
Altitude 3780m walk down to 1800m, hiking time is estimated 5-6 hours. Descend steadly through the mooland past Mandara Hut 2750 and through the lush rain forest to the Marangu Park gate here for those managed to reach the Summit or Gillman’s point are awarded certificates. Afterwards transfer to Arusha town/Moshi town for Overnight FB.
